After 15 years of presenting improv shows on a routine schedule, the Wiseguys are ending their regularly scheduled shows.
Our final scheduled show is April 15, 2017 at Cafe Eclectic Midtown. The show starts at 9:00, and will feature members of the Wiseguys – past and present. For this show, we will be passing the bucket, and all money raised will be donated to Mercy Corps, an international relief agency. This show’s format is going to be a little different. If there’s a game you want us to play, be prepared to let us know. We may just do it.
We are shutting down the show for a lot of reasons. Troupe members come and go, and it can be hard to maintain a two show a month schedule. And, let’s face it, 15 years is a long time to expect audiences to enthusiastically show up twice a month. We’ve lost track of how many shows we’ve done, but it’s in the hundreds.
But, this is not intended to be our final show of all time. Our plan is to do less frequent shows that are a bigger deal. We will keep you posted on those as they arise.
We want to thank Cafe Eclectic for being a great home for us for several years. They are a great group of people. We want to thank our loved ones who have tolerated us taking time away from them to make people laugh. And, of course, we want to thank you, our audience. You have made this all possible and rewarding.
But, we don’t want to get maudlin here. While this is the end of our current chapter, we anticipate more to come.
And, for now, mark your calendars for April 15. It’s going to be a big, wild show with lots of special guests. Come out and celebrate with us.
This is a finale you can’t refuse.
